Clinical Supervision
Structured, supportive supervision for LPCs working toward independent licensure in Ohio. Supervision is grounded in clinical skill development, ethical practice, and real-world application — with a focus on helping clinicians grow in both confidence and competence.
Developing Clinical Judgment
Support in strengthening case conceptualization, treatment planning, documentation, ethical decision-making, and overall confidence in practice.
Reflective Supervision
Space to think through difficult cases, emotional responses, countertransference, boundaries, and the weight clinicians often carry in the work.
Practice Readiness
Guidance for clinicians who want supervision that is not only compliant, but also useful in preparing them for sustainable, capable long-term practice.
Supervision Rates
Supervision meets state requirements and includes regular individual and/or group sessions, documentation review, and guidance aligned with Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board standards.
Approach to Supervision
Supervision is offered with the same values that shape clinical work: honesty, steadiness, practical support, and respect for the complexity of the role. The goal is to help clinicians grow into thoughtful, grounded professionals — not simply meet minimum requirements.
Internships
Internship experiences should offer more than observation. They should provide meaningful exposure, strong mentorship, and opportunities to grow in both skill and confidence.
Training Future Clinicians
We offer internship placements for graduate-level counseling and social work students seeking hands-on experience in a supportive, clinically focused environment. Interns gain exposure to real-world practice, including assessment, treatment planning, documentation, and client engagement.
All internships are structured to meet university and state requirements, with consistent supervision, clear expectations, and opportunities to build practical skills that translate beyond the classroom.
- Currently only accepting Interns with CT status in Ohio.
- Internships are a paid position. Please reach out for details.

CEU Development & Training
We design and deliver continuing education and training opportunities tailored to the real-world needs of clinicians, first responders, and organizations.
Behavioral Health Topics
Training content including trauma, substance use, ethics, family systems, and clinical topics relevant to behavioral health professionals.
First Responder-Focused Education
Development of training and educational content specific to the mental health realities of first responders and the family systems around them.
Flexible Delivery
Trainings can be offered as individual courses, group sessions, or customized programs for agencies and teams — meeting state CEU requirements where applicable.
Training Philosophy
Professional development should be useful, relevant, and rooted in the realities clinicians are actually navigating. The strongest education leaves people better equipped, more thoughtful, and more capable in the work they return to afterward.
Professional support at Tough Cookie Counseling is built around the same core standard as the rest of the practice: thoughtful work, real-world usefulness, and respect for the people carrying the responsibility.
